• What does the Business Intelligence - Financials (BI-Fins) department do?

  Our department develops in-house applications using C# to enhance the efficiency of the financial trading room. These includes trade automation, derivative pricing, risk management and client relationship management software.

• What technologies do you use?

  We primarily develop applications using C#, .NET, and SQL.

• Do I need a finance background to join the BI- Fins team?

  While financial knowledge is beneficial, it is not required. We value strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a passion for working with data in a fast-paced environment. We provide industry-specific training to help new team members understand financial markets and trading.

• What skills are most important for a developer in the BI-Fins department?

  Key skills include:

• How does the BI-Fins team support the financial trading team?

  We work closely with traders to develop tools to automate workflows, increase our profitability and stay compliant with our regulators.

  Our environment is fast-paced, collaborative whilst individuals are granted autonomy to solve technical problems with creativity. We operate in an industry where efficiency and accuracy are critical. Developers work closely with stakeholders to create solutions that directly impact the business.

• Is there an opportunity to work on machine learning and AI?

  Yes we have completed projects where machine learning was used effectively. One example of this was the development of a client lifetime value model which increased the efficiency of our marketing processes. Developers within Spreadex are provided with Copilot and are encouraged to leverage the productivity enhancements AI tools can provide whilst being aware of their weaknesses.
